LAVINA VERNA KNELSEN

Lavina passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Home in Medicine Hat on the evening of October 3, 2021, at the age of 84 years. She is survived by her two sons, Robert (Marie) and Brian (Anita); brother, Walter (Florabelle); step-granddaughters, Lindsay (Dongmin) and Sabrina as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families. She was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Mary Senft; the love of her life, Edward (1980) and her brother, Ray. Lavina was born and raised on the farm near Hodgeville, SK., and married Edward Knelsen in October 1955. Lavina spent her free time in her garden and had a green thumb like no other. Her home and yard were always filled with beautiful plants. Lavina had a knack for making African Violets thrive. While in The Wellington, she started plants for the staff. Lavina also enjoyed cooking, painting and playing piano; teaching piano lessons for years. Throughout the years, Lavina worked at Nutter’s as well as a couple of bakeries in Medicine Hat. She also did some traveling with Ed to Hawaii, enjoyed many family camping trips and went to Mexico for Brian and Anita’s wedding. Lavina spent the last four years enjoying life at The Wellington where she participated in crafts, activities, music and new found friendships. As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Lavina looked forward to a time when she would be with her beloved husband again, living here on earth in perfect conditions. Welcoming back those who died before her, as part of Jehovah’s kingdom arrangement. A private service will be held.
