BRANDEN HAZELAAR

1986 – 2021

It’s a funny thing, life. Knowing you’re undoubtedly on bought time, can really change one person’s perspective on how you live it. We never liked to call this bout with cancer a battle. We treated it like it was just the next challenge, next adventure, and next phase of life that taught us a whole lot of lessons. It taught us how to live, how to love and at the end of this journey, it was a big part of the reason we became the best versions of ourselves. Sure, passing at the young age of 35 isn’t ideal, but we don’t think of it as a tragedy. It was a very beautiful and fulfilling 35 years, and that’s how we will remember it. We did this our own way. Not a lot of people can say they conquered the world, travelled freely, and lived so genuinely all while owning a business that they enjoyed. Biking, campervans, crowd surfs, and random last minute adventures to appease our wanderlust. To sketchy back alleys, thumbs ups, and bad jokes all with my favorite people. Carrying on my legacy, is my whole world, my best friend and “wife” of nearly 12 years, Robyn (aka Goof). Every day spent together was my favorite. Even when things got challenging, we always made sure that our time spent together was about living. We learned to find light in every darkness. Our two fur babies, Bella and Rango, they will have to be your guardians now. I leave behind, my loving parents, Robert & Dinah Hazelaar, my family, Jen (Jordan) De Roaldes, Chantel (Keith) Vis. I love you all. My friend and father-in-law, Brian. My in laws, Apryl (Gord), Carmin & Clyde. Robyn is your handful now. To our numerous nieces and nephews, endless amount of friends and family who have been with me, visited, shared memories, continued to laugh and cheered me on for this heck of a ride. You are the family we chose. I wish we had more time.

Big thank you all the amazing health care workers. So much appreciation for the extra care that was given, you did more than your job required of you. We know we made an impact.
