June 25, 1943 ~ January 9, 2022

George Donald Hoffart, beloved husband of Diane, passed away peacefully at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Sunday, January 9, 2022, at the age of 78 years. George was born in Prelate, Saskatchewan on June 25, 1943, the sixth of nine children. He married his sweetheart, Diane Kuhn, from Estuary, SK., on June 15, 1968. George spent many years working as a mechanical supervisor in the oil and gas industry. He always had a greeting, smile, time for pleasantries and was known for spreading joy and sharing his quick wit. George’s hobbies included fishing, playing cribbage, golfing, watching curling, woodworking and he was a man who could fix anything. He was a community volunteer on town council, Burstall Fire Department and sang in the church choir. He was an ardent Saskatchewan Roughrider’s fan and never failed to wear green on game day. George was his grandchildren’s biggest fan, cheering for them on whichever team they played. He was voted as Burstall citizen of the year by his fellow community members. Family gatherings, making homemade sausage, taking his grandchildren fishing and teaching them to play cribbage will all leave a legacy for his loved ones to remember! Left to cherish George’s memory are his loving wife of over 50 years, Diane; daughters, Lisa (Greg Hart) Hoffart and children, Mitchell, Connor, Delany, Helena; Renee (Chris) Kohls and children, Brendan and Janelle; Paula (Greg) Stodalka and children, Owen and Jillian; siblings, Richard (Yvonne) Hoffert, Delores (Edwin) Meuchal, Wilfred (Dolores) Hoffart, Alma (Arnold) Burton, Ronald (Sharon) Hoffart, James (Alice) Hoffart and Karen Holmstrom; in-laws, Rose Bischoff, Marian (Ian) Hindmarsh and James (Janet) Kuhn as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. George was predeceased by his parents, Peter (Irene) Hoffart; parents-in-law, Balzar (Mary) Kuhn; sister, Victoria (Rhinny) Bischoff and brothers-in-law, Donald Holmstrom and Frank Bischoff. The Vigil Prayer service is by invitation only. Prayers will be recited at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel on Friday, January 14, 2022, at 7:00 p.m. with Father Roque Pereira officiating.
