May 10, 1963 – January 10, 2022

Ronald (Ronnie) Michael Bishop of Brooks, passed away at the Brooks Health Center on January 10th, 2022, at the age of 58, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on May 10th, 1963 to Walter and Mary Bishop of Point La Haye, St. Mary’s Bay, NF, as the fourth of five children. In the late 90’s, Ronnie moved west to Brooks, AB in pursuit of better work opportunities. Ronnie continued to have a strong connection to his east coast roots and travelled home frequently to visit family and friends. He enjoyed the great outdoors with hunting, camping and fishing being a few of his favorite hobbies. As an avid fisherman, he spent many hours near the water with friends and loved ones, casting a line and reminiscing about days gone by. Ronnie was a hard worker and spent his years working at Lakeside Packers in Brooks and various companies in Fort McMurray. During this time, he met many people, some of whom became lifelong friends. He was known to always lend a helping hand and to never turn down a home cooked meal. He was a kind soul with a heart of gold and will be dearly missed by those lucky enough to know him. He was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Mary Bishop and sister Mary Theresa. Leaving to mourn with loving memories are his son, Christopher Kielly, sister Marjorie (Kevin Molloy), sister Helen Molloy and brother Walter (Wanda Finlay) and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be remembered fondly by a large extended family and many close friends including his dear friend, Karen Shaw. A special thanks to Mona and the Clark family for their loving care and support during Ronnie’s battle with cancer. Funeral services to take place at a later date in Newfoundland. If friends and family so desire, donations can be made directly to the Canadian Cancer Society, 200, Manning Road NE, Calgary, Alberta T2E 2P5.
