REITA RUTH WILSON

September 5, 1934 – January 30, 2022

Reita Ruth Wilson of Redcliff passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2022, at the age of 87 years.

Survived by her seven children; Sheila Bradford of Medicine Hat, Lindy Doyle, Russell Wilson and Jeff (Jeanine) Wilson of Redcliff, Don (Cathie) Snider, Deanne Wilson and Nancy (Jack) Wilson all of Sherwood Park; sister, Joan McIntosh of Ontario; ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mom was predeceased by her parents; one brother; and two sisters.

Mom managed the Redcliff Library for 25 years, retiring at the age of 75, and knew generations of kids. She was a voracious reader, reluctant gardener, a very involved member of her church, Gordon Memorial United Church, and supportive of her community, even Citizen of the Year.

Mom and her three youngest children moved to Redcliff in 1976 and quickly became a valued member of the community. She will be sadly missed by her family and many good friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Medicine Hat SPCA, Diabetes Canada, or your local library.

A service and celebration of life will be held at a later date.

3 Condolences for “REITA RUTH WILSON”

  1. Darlene Ramm says:

Oh…I am so, so sorry to hear about Reita. She was a grand lady. Always had a smile for you and a kind word. Deanne, I remember when we were dancing on the water bed frame downstairs…to Steve Winwood’s “Take a Chance” and your Mom came down to see what the “ruckus” was! Yeah, and Geoff, you were there, too!! She just shook her head and walked away…she didn’t say anything, but we knew what she was thinking!!! I think of that moment often and have always loved that song since then. Mine and Ron’s thoughts and prayers are with you all.

  3. Sue Masterman says:

My deepest condolences to Reita’s family on the loss of their mom and grandmother. Reita was a delightful woman – warm, compassionate, friendly, a woman of deep faith. I particularly remember Reita’s leadership at the Gordon Memorial Easter Sunday sunrise services; she made worship at those services such a pleasure. I know that Reita will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
