1933 ~ JOSE GOMES ~ 2022

Jose Gomes passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 9th, 2022 in Medicine Hat. Jose is lovingly remembered by his sons, Noel and Oliver Gomes; grandsons, Keiron and Cody; brother, Luis; sisters, Alice and Fernanda; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jose “Joe” Gomes was born on August 11th, 1933 in Horta Faial, Azores, Portugal. He immigrated to Canada in 1960 and joined the railway, eventually settling in Medicine Hat. He gained employment at Goodyear Tire and met his wife, Helga. Jose was a loving, caring, and dedicated father and grandfather. He was lifelong friends with Tibor and Olga Lengyel, and Joe and Maria Cruz, as well as many others. Joe was an excellent cook. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and making wine. He loved to visit the Azores and he cherished time with his family and friends. Jose will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A Memorial Service will be held at HOLY FAMILY PARISH, 1451 Strachan RD SE, Medicine Hat on Saturday, March 26th 2022 at 1:00 pm. Family and friends are also welcome to participate via livestream by logging on to www.youtube.com and joining the live webcast on Medicine Hat Holy Family Church on the above date at 12:50 pm.
