LEONARD SCHROPP

1935 ~ LEONARD SCHROPP ~ 2023 Leonard Schropp of Medicine Hat, with his daughters by his side, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2023 at the age of 87 years. Leonard was born October 13, 1935, the youngest of four children. He spent his youth at the family farm near Holdfast, SK. He married Claire Ehmann in 1958. Leonard began his working career as a veterinarian assistant and then moved on for his growing family driving school bus and working as a custodian at Holdfast High School for many years. In 1975, he moved his family to Medicine Hat where he worked in construction, moving up the ladder to supervisor of Lark Haven Homes and then ending his career at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital where he had worked in maintenance for 16 years. Leonard had many hobbies; music, woodworking and eating desserts being his favourites. He had a gift for music and was a member of the band, The Missiles, playing the accordion. He also played the organ which he kept playing throughout his life. He took great pleasure in participating in the Polka Fests but time spent with his family brought him the most joy.

His memory will be cherished in the hearts of his daughters and grandchildren. Leonard leaves to cherish his memory his children, Debbie (Doug) Cooke and their children, Ryan Cooke and his son, Ryder, and Robert Cooke; Charmayne (Gerald) Boucher and their children, Jared (Maddy) Boucher and daughter, Claire, Michelle Boucher, and David Boucher; Gail (Gary) Beitz and their children, Derek (Susan) Schaerer and their children Lily, Keaton and Boston, Mark Schaerer and his daughter, Willow, Jillian Schaerer, Sean (Kamille) Beitz and their children, Madilyn and Brielle; Darlene (Neil) Leismeister and their children, Kyle (Brittany Hochstein) Leismeister, Kayla (Michael) Papps and their children, Emma and Max; Lorna (Gord) Hust and their children, Taylor (Nathan) Winter and son, Theo and Michael (Michaela Reid) Hust; Lenore (Richard) Kowalchuck and their children, Grace (JP Guerra) Kowalchuck and Benjamin Kowalchuck; his sister, Pauline Selinger of 99 years; as well as sister-in-law, Rose Schropp. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Claire; brother, Alfred Schropp; sister, Kay Ehmann; brothers-in-law, Jack Ehmann, Roy Selinger, and Brian Ehmann.
