CHOOUNG-IL “CHUCK” PARK 1941 ~ 2024
Chooung Il Park of Medicine Hat passed away at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary on Thursday, February 1st, 2024 at the age of 82 years. Chooung also leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 55 years, Chong Suk Park; son, Augustine Park; son-in-law, Tyrone Wessner; grandchildren, Mackenzie Park, Zachary Park, Emily Wessner, Ben Wessner; brother, Chooung Won Park; sisters, Sung Hee Park, Sung Ae Park, and Sung Ran Park, as well as nephews and nieces, Douglas Park, Sue Chung Yeoh, Lucy Park, In Girl Park, Min Jung Kim, Tae Hyun Kin, Sang Bong Lee, Sang Young Lee and Min Hae Lee. Chooung was predeceased by his father, Cheon Suk Park; mother, Jeoung Ok Kim; son, Dominic Park; daughter, Monika Wessner; and brother, Chooung Hoe Park. Chuck, as he was known to most, was the eldest of six children. He immigrated to Canada in 1970 with his wife and son. He came from humble beginnings but was a very a hardworking and proud man who at times worked multiple jobs in order to support his family. In 1977, he moved his family to Western Canada to seek out new opportunities and he purchased a business in 1979 in a small town just outside of Edmonton, AB. In 1991, he came to Medicine Hat to take on a new business challenge and has been here ever since. He met many wonderful people here and he loved Medicine Hat. Chuck was a dedicated family man who would do anything for his family and friends. He will be sorrowfully missed. The Funeral Service will be held at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church 238 – 2nd Avenue NE, Medicine Hat, AB T1A 5Z9, on Friday, February 16th, 2024 at 11:00 am with Fr. Iqbal Khurshid officiating.
