CLAYTON HOWARD WALLS
Clayton Howard Walls of Medicine Hat, beloved husband of the late Darlene Patricia Walls (nee Neufeldt), passed away peacefully in hospital, on February 8, 2024, at the age of 75 years.
Clayton was born in Rosetown, Saskatchewan and moved with his parents Norma and Bert to Saskatoon shortly thereafter. He was the oldest child in a family of five children. He started school at King George, and when the family decided to move to Montgomery Place, Clayton and his sisters Dorothy and Gail made a short stop at Queen Elizabeth School before settling at Montgomery School. As the oldest child, Clayton took his role as leader and protector seriously and his siblings enjoyed a safe and secure childhood with him as a big brother. Clayton went to Mount Royal Collegiate and then began working at Adam’s Lumber. He worked in the lumber and building sector for a number of years until he moved to Medicine Hat and began driving for Care Cabs. His association with Care Cabs gave him some of the happiest memories of his working life. It was here that Clayton met Darlene and they started a partnership that would endure for the rest of their lives. Clayton and Darlene were married in North Battleford in August 1998. Everyone who knew him would comment that this was the happiest day of his life. He was loving and devoted to Darlene throughout their days together. When she passed away in 2021, Clayton did his best to carry on. He kept contact with his many nieces and nephews and delighted in their stories, their adventures and their lives. Ill health and deep sadness caused Clayton’s world to grow smaller even as he was sustained by dear friends and family. He passed away peacefully following a brief illness.
He is survived by one sister Gail E. Gregory (Mike) of Regina, Saskatchewan; one brother James A. Walls (Lynda) of North Battleford, Saskatchewan, and a brother-in-law, Doug Bowman of Watrous, Saskatchewan; Darlene’s sons, B J (Bill) Roberston and Dale Robertson of Medicine Hat as well as numerous nieces, nephews, whom he loved dearly, and their families. Besides his loving wife Darlene, Clayton was predeceased by his parents, Norma Walls (Crawford) and Albert Walls and by his sisters, Dorothy Stephenson and Anne-Marie Bowman, and his brother-in-law, Arni Stephenson.
A Celebration of Clayton’s life will take place in the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTRE on Monday, April 1, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant Pat Grisonich officiating. Those who wish to remember Clayton and Darlene with a donation may do so to the Medicine Hat SPCA (medhatspca.ca). To leave a message of condolence you may visit www.pattisonfuneralhome.com.
