One Condolence for “ARTHUR RENTON”

  1. Kathryn Heaney says:

Arthur Renton was my father-in-law for 23 years. Even though his religious self must have struggled with the idea of his daughter marying a woman, as mine did, he never showed me anything but acceptance, love and kindness, as mine did with my Morgan.

We – Morgan and I, and Toby! were lucky enough to be able to visit Arthur and Pat and Leo Cat! at least once, or twice a year, both in Vauxhall and Kelowna and, of course, at the Masterpiece in Medicine Hat.

    Arthur.
I love how you were just as good a listener as you were a story teller.
I love how you were funny and fun. How you loved playing Mexican Train – especially when you won, which you did fairly often!
I love how you loved Toby and how he dearly loved you back.
How you were genuinely thankful for any little gift we pgave you, any helping hand we could offer you, and the “aye, thank you and me too, my dear” each time I kissed you on the top of your head and said “I love you, Arthur”, as Morgan and I and Toby were heading back to Kelowna.

Yours and Morgan’s relationship was one that any daughter could dream of, and more. You spent hours in your quanset and around the property – you teaching, the teacher learning.
You called from outside the house, hurrying her, because the two of you had a date to buy bullets for target practice (which she always aced) and she called back “just a minute! I have to put my makeup on.” The four of us just about laughed ’til we cried.
Her heart broke when you died and it will never heal.
She misses you more than I can put into words.
You were her dad. You are her dad.

    Your Pat.
I love how you treasured your Prairie Rose and the beautiful story of how you met and married and built a life for you both, based on your faith, your friends and your family.
I am forever grateful that you and Pat loved me as a part of your family and were such a gift for my life.

I love you, Arthur. Thank You.
    K ♡
