ROSELA RENZ
Posted: September 9th, 2024November 14, 1935 ~ September 4, 2024
As of September 4, 2024, Rosela Elizabeth Renz is finally free to remember everything she has been unable to remember these last many years.
Mom – when you get to where you are going and see dad, Ed, Jeanne, Karen and Adam; give them a hug and tell them we miss them. Say Hi to our relatives who have gone before us and make sure you give Uncle John a botch from us.
Rosela Elizabeth Ries was born on November 14, 1935, to Peter and Catherine Ries. They lived on a farm south of Prelate, Saskatchewan. Rosela was the eldest of five and was pre-deceased by her brother, Joe Ries. Leaving to mourn are Louis (Helen) Ries, Helen (Ross) Korven, Jim (Donna) Ries and their families.
Rosela married Peter Getz on July 27, 1954. Together they raised eight kids: Denise Getz (Richard Whitford), Dennis Getz, Debby (Ron) Start, Rick Getz, Joanne (Terry) Lockhart, Gail (Ray) Fleck, Gary (Colleen) Getz and Joy (Dan) Rigby. They have 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Pete and Rosela raised their kids on 6th Street Crescent in Kindersley, Saskatchewan and then moved to Main Street when they bought the Kingcoin Dry Cleaner and Laundromat. Mom worked as a dry cleaner and did the books for dad’s appliance repair business.
In 1984, they moved to Medicine Hat with Joy, the only one left at home. Mom worked at the K-Mart cafeteria until she retired and Dad passed away in May of 1990 after several years of care from mom.
Mom then married Ed Renz, a longtime family friend, in May 1998. Ed had three children, Allan (Gerri) Renz, Dianna Merger and Mark (Wendy) Renz. Ed passed away on June 18, 2003.
After several years of single life, we noticed mom getting forgetful and over the years it got worse. When covid hit, Mom spent a lot of time alone which made things even worse for her.
On September 4, 2024, which was Dad’s birthday, Mom passed away. We miss and love you, Mom. Rest in Peace!
The family would like to thank the staff at Meadow Ridge and River View Care Centres. Mom had excellent care and those who made her life easier know who you are. You made our lives easier just knowing you were caring for her.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, 238 – 2 Avenue N.E., Medicine Hat on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. with Father Myles Gaffney celebrant. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery. (Condolences may be expressed by visiting our website at www.cooksouthland.com) Honoured to serve the family is
