ANN SEKURA 1948 – 2025
Ann Aurora Mary Sekura, beloved wife of the late Frank Sekura, passed away in Lethbridge on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at the age of 76 years.
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 – 48 Avenue, Taber on Monday, June 2, 2025 at 7:00 P.M.
Those who are unable to attend and wish to view Prayers online may do so by visiting Ann’s obituary page on our website and clicking on the livestream link that will be available at 6:45 P.M. on Monday, June 2, 2025. Barring any technical difficulties, the livestream will begin at 7:00 P.M.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 5009 – 48 Avenue, Taber on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. Condolences may be forwarded by visiting our website at www.southlandfuneral.com.

Ann is survived by her children Jason (Roxanne) Sekura of High River, Jim (Jodene) Sekura of Taber, Chris Sekura of Taber and Rob (Charlene) Sekura of High River; grandchildren Ethan, Gracyn and Emmit Sekura of High River; Ashley, Maddison and Blake Sekura of Australia; Paige Sekura of High River. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Sieglinde Leeb and sister-in-law Rose Leeb; brother-in-law Eric Matthiessen and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Frank Sekura; parents Anselm and Teresia Leeb; brothers John and Alex Leeb; sister Mary Matthiessen.
Ann was born in Lüneburg, Germany, and at only a few months old, moved with her parents to Canada, settling on a farm near Lancer, Saskatchewan. In 1951, the family relocated to Medicine Hat, where Ann spent her childhood and later graduated from McCoy High School.
After graduation, Ann lived and worked in Medicine Hat, Calgary and Banff, holding various jobs and enjoying the independence and experience those years brought. In November 1969, she married Frank Sekura of Taber. Together, they made their home on the farm east of Taber, where they raised their four sons.
Ann’s life was defined by her deep love and support for her family. She spent countless hours driving to practices, games and tournaments, sitting in many hockey rinks offering quiet encouragement, and contributing behind the scenes to numerous theatre productions.
She worked as a travel agent in Taber, a role that perfectly matched her love of travel and helping others. Ann traveled to many countries throughout her life, collecting memories and stories that she treasured and would often share.
Ann found immense joy in her grandchildren, delighting in their stories, milestones and achievements. Nothing made her smile more than hearing about their accomplishments and watching them grow.
Her quiet kindness, deep compassion and constant concern for others touched everyone who knew her. Ann’s gentle presence and thoughtful spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of having her in their lives.

The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to all the health care professionals in Lethbridge and Taber who provided compassionate care for mom throughout her journey. A special thank you to the dedicated staff at Taber Home Care for their kindness, support and attentiveness, which brought comfort to her.
