BRENDA CAROL BARTON
Posted: June 7th, 2025 BRENDA CAROL BARTON March 19, 1954 – June 4, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brenda Carol Barton, a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Brenda was born on March 19, 1954, and was unexpectedly taken from us on June 4, 2025, at the age of 71. We take comfort in knowing she was welcomed into heaven by the loving arms of her parents, Abe and Eva Dyck.
Brenda leaves behind her devoted husband of 48 years, Alan Barton; her cherished daughter Abbe; her beloved son Travis (Candice); and her treasured grandson, Cale, Brenda’s only grandchild and the light of her life. Predeceased by her parents-in-law Cyril (Dude) and Margery Barton.
She is also survived by her five brothers: Gary (Sandra), Greg (Susan), Wayne (Kathy), Clarence (Debbie), and Calvin (Linda). Brenda held close bonds with her sister-in-laws, Trudy Schafer (Wayne) and Olwen Chudleigh (Earl – pre-deceased). Brenda also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, along with their children, all of whom she adored.
Brenda was born in Coaldale, AB and raised on a farm South of Seven Persons and later moved to Medicine Hat. After many years of dedicated service through various careers in public service, Brenda welcomed her greatly anticipated retirement in 2019. She remained active in her community, especially through her passionate involvement with the local CUPE organization. Brenda found great joy in her backyard oasis, where she lovingly tended to her garden and flower beds. She volunteered regularly at the Prairie Gleaners Society, keeping busy with purpose, and was a devoted member of Fifth Avenue Memorial United Church.
Above all, Brenda’s heart belonged to her family. Whether lending a hand on the farm for her brothers, being the proud “grandmommy” to her beloved grand-dogs, or cherishing every moment with her only and very special grandson, Cale she gave her love generously and without limit. She will remain in our hearts forever.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Brenda’s memory may be made to the Prairie Gleaners Society or AJ’s Loan Cupboard, care of Brenda Barton. A celebration of her life will be held on June 11, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.at Fifth Avenue Memorial United Church, 476 4th Street SE, Medicine Hat, Alberta. Following the service, all are warmly invited to gather in the church hall for light refreshments and to share memories in honor of Brenda’s life. Our family would like to graciously thank the staff at Foothills Medical Centre. Condolences may be made at www.gracememorial.com. Arrangements are made by
