It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brian Lynn Gooding of Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, on June 4, 2025, at the age of 78. Brian leaves behind the love of his life, Lorna, whom he married on June 5, 1965, and with whom he shared 60 years of unwavering love and devotion.Born on August 29, 1946, in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Brian built a life marked by hard work, dedication, and generosity. In 1968, he and his young family moved to Medicine Hat, Alberta, where he began his career in the dairy industry. Starting as a door-to-door milkman, Brian’s determination and leadership soon led him into management. In 1996, he and Lorna moved to Rocky Mountain House, where they owned and operated a Dairyland dairy. After several years of running the business, Brian transitioned into the final chapter of his career, operating his own pressure truck until his retirement at the age of 71.Brian was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, and a generous community member. In Medicine Hat, he gave his time to the Associated Canadian Travellers and the Rotary Club, served on the Medicine Hat Stampede Board, and coached little league hockey and baseball. In Rocky Mountain House, he continued his legacy of service by holding various executive positions at Branch 8 of the Royal Canadian Legion, including a term as president.Brian’s time was well spent doing the things he loved most: playing cribbage, cheering for the Saskatchewan Roughriders, serving his community, and being surrounded by family and friends.Brian is survived by his beloved wife, Lorna; his two sons, Sheldon and his wife, Tara, and David and his wife, Becky; his grandsons, Logan and Nolan; his sisters, Janice and sister-in-law, Maryann; his in-laws, Dick, Donna, Lee and his wife, Eileen; and many cherished nieces and nephews. Brian was predeceased by his parents, Harley and Elizabeth; his brothers, Donald and Gordon; his sisters, Genivieve and Lorelei and her husband, Ben; his brothers-in-law, Johnny and Don; his sister-in-law, Marlene; his parents-in-law, George and Sylvia; his nephew, Joe; and his niece, Theresa.Brian’s memory will be forever held in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Memorial donations in Brian’s name can be made to Canadian Cancer Society or the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #8.A celebration of Brian’s life will be held at Rocky Funeral Home on June 11, 2025 at 2:00pm, where we will gather to honour his memory. A reception will follow at Branch 8 of the Royal Canadian Legion in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta.
