With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jacques “Jack” Beatton Foley, a beloved partner, foster father, and cherished friend, who left this world on August 30, 2025, in Medicine Hat, Alberta. Born on August 3, 1947, in Dawson Creek, British Columbia, Jack graced the lives of those around him with his humor, wit, and undeniable warmth. Jack was a self-employed photographer, capturing life’s beautiful moments and sharing his unique perspective of the world through his lens. He had a talent for making those around him smile, often breaking the ice with a joke or a playful trick. His comedic nature was infectious, and he knew how to light up a room, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met. Beyond his professional endeavors, Jack had a deep love for animals, which was evident in the bonds he formed with his beloved critters: Macy, Meko, Teeko, Smokey, Buddy, Misty, and Tessa. These furry companions brought him immense joy and were a testament to his big-hearted nature. Jack also had a passion for working on old cars, which was a reflection of his appreciation for the past and the stories that each vehicle held. A true history enthusiast, Jack spent many hours watching historical programs on television, often sharing fascinating tales and insights with family and friends. He had a particular fondness for food, and he cherished outings that included his favorite treat milkshakes. Jack is survived by his loving partner, Marlene Stappler, and his foster son, Trevor Nadeau. He leaves behind a large extended family, including numerous in-laws, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom held a special place in his heart. Jack was preceded in death by his devoted parents, Tom and Paula Foley. To honor Jack’s life, a private family time of remembrance will be held. While we say goodbye to a remarkable man, we take comfort in knowing that he will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alberta Pound Services through the City of Medicine Hat, reflecting his passion for animals and his desire to make a difference in their lives. As we remember Jack, let us celebrate the laughter, joy, and love that he brought into our lives. His spirit will continue to live on in our hearts and memories, reminding us to cherish every moment.
