Today there is a new angel in heaven. Carole passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, in Medicine Hat, AB at the age of 88 years, beloved wife of the late Gerald (Gerry) Wescott. She will be dearly missed by sons, Douglas, Donald and Craig; grandsons, Clifford, Sam, Eric and Cam; brother, Wayne Maki, of Granum, Alberta; sister-in-law Gwen (Ray) Westcott, of Lanigan, Saskatchewan and brother-in-law, Allen (Karen) Kolman, of Whitewood, Saskatchewan, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald; parents, Donald and Signe Maki; Gerald’s parents, Clifford and Dorothy; stepfather, Wellington Kolman; Gerald’s sister, Mona Palmer (Westcott); as well as maternal and paternal grandparents. Carole was born on her uncle’s farm near Tantallon, Saskatchewan on June 11, 1937, to Donald and Signe Maki. She attended Grove Park School for grades 1 to 10 then Whitewood High School for grades 11 and 12. Carole went on the get her Registered Nurses designation at Regina General Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1959. Carole loved her nursing profession and continued to work in the medical field for almost 40 years. On June 11, 1960, Carole walked down the aisle with her high school sweetheart to start their dance of life. Their union was joined by three sons in rapid succession. Upon graduation she began working at the Whitewood Hospital. In 1969 the family moved to Lynn Lake Manitoba where she worked at Sherritt Gordon Mines Hospital. While in Lynn Lake nurses learned many other skills such as taking x-rays, simple lab procedures and emergency flights to and from First Nations camps and to Winnipeg, she enjoyed the action. 1975 saw the family move to Medicine Hat, Alberta. Carole was one of the first female Paramedics in Alberta, she worked with the Medicine Hat Ambulance for several years. She worked in the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital Emergency Department until retirement. Carole loved to travel, she visited Mexico, New Zealand, Fiji, Cuba, Hong Kong, Thailand, Korea, China, several trips to the U.S.A, and western Canada. She also loved trying different things such as mountain hiking, golf, skiing (cross country and down hill) dragon boating and many types of physical fitness. She loved to learn new things and took classes in oil painting, photography, Brazilian embroidery as well as many sewing classes. At Carole’s request there will be no funeral services. There will be a graveside service in Whitewood, Saskatchewan at a later date.
