Geertruida Bos – Van Der Tang

1936 – 2018

Mrs. Geertruida (Gertruda or Truus) Bos – van der Tang of Coaldale, beloved wife of the late Mr. Marinus Bos, passed away at Sunny South Lodge in Coaldale on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at the age of 82 years to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ after a period of declining health. Geertruida was born on February 17, 1936 in Zoetermeer, the Netherlands. She married Marinus Bos on December 16, 1959 and immigrated to Canada with her family on June 9, 1981. Geertruida is survived by her children Peter (Gerda) and their children Monique (Ty) Van Herk Jordan, Blake, Chase, Ryan (Elaine) Taylor, Brielle, Steven (Kim) Brooklyn, Peter, Tamara; Tony (Wendy) and their children Breane (Dan) Visser Makenna, Nate, Mitchel, Megan; René (Helma) and their children Annemieke (Tjeerd) van Straalen Ella, Yvonne (Sam) Dijs Nola, Floris, Marlinde and Nick, Rick and Alisha, Joyce ; Simon (Ramona) and their children Larissa, Kristi (Michael) Veldman Liam, Heather, Joel; Bert (Debbie) and their children Nicoline, Alivia, Caleb, Jaron, Leo, Dahlia; Louise (Ernst) Sluijmers and their children Monica (Jan) Van de Brake Emily, Tijmen, Natalie, Elise and Jack, Bas and Kerri-Ann, Joshua, Hannah; John (Heidi) and their children Levi, Jayda, Tyson, Alexis, Devon, Kaden; brother Simon (Anneke) van der Tang and sister Loes (Adrie) Kaashoek; brother-in-law Nelis (Bep) Bos; sisters-in-law Marijke de Jong, Annie Dogterom, Nelie van de Bergh and numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Geertruida is also predeceased by her parents Teunis and Geertje van der Tang, and her stepmother, Wijnie van der Tang; sister, Lyda Slob; brother, Laurens; father and mother-in-law, Pieter and Johanna Bos; brothers in law, Wout Slob, Piet van de Marel, Piet Bos, Bert Bos, Siem de Jong, Ton Dogterom, and Jan van de Bergh; sisters-in-law, Mien van de Marel, Aad Bos, Sjaan Bos, Rookje de Jong, and Gre Bos. After finishing school, Geertruida trained to be a seamstress and had many clients who she worked for. The family operated a dairy farm in Holland and a sod farm when they moved to Canada. Geertruida was known for her hospitality, the door was always open for visitors. She hosted many guests, exchange students and families over the years. She loved playing the organ; singing psalms and hymns. For many years she worked as a seamstress from her home and at Butte Dress Shop in Picture Butte. Later she enjoyed volunteering at Bibles for Mission Thrift Store together with her husband. Geertruida’s real passion was always to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with whoever she met and to speak of the need for a personal Savior. Family and friends will sadly miss her. We thank the staff at the Sunny South Lodge in Coaldale for the loving care they extended to mom in the past four years, as her health steadily declined. Condolences will be held between 7:30pm and 8:30pm on Monday, August 13, 2018 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610-4 Street South, Lethbridge, AB. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at BETHEL FREE REFORMED CHURCH OF MONARCH, 6 Eastman Rd, Monarch, AB, with Pastor Eric Moerdyk, officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Rehoboth Christian Ministries, Box 1312 Coaldale, AB T1M 1N1
