WATTS

LORRAINE GEORGIA WATTS, of Lethbridge, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital, on Monday, August 13, 2018 at the age of 75 years.

She is the loving mother of Fiori Dagnone of Edmonton, Ralph (Tracy) Dagnone of Lethbridge, Rhonda (John) Carrette of Edmonton, Sandra (Justin) Johnson of Lethbridge, Kristen (Clayton) Rutberg of Vulcan and Darryl Watts of Lethbridge. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Lorraine was predeceased by her parents Leland and Pauline Watts and her son Ben Dagnone.

Lorraine had a life full of challenges and fought through them all. She attended the U of C in her 40’s, and attained a degree in social work. She worked in that field for years and then did marketing for the CIBC banks in southern Alberta. Four years ago, she was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called myelofibrosis and given a five year life expectancy. Since then, she has enjoyed life and family the best she could while the cancer advanced. She was a very caring and stoic person who remained strong for her family through all the hardships. She was unexpectedly admitted to the Chinook Regional Hospital due to an unrelated matter on August 11, and despite her strength and desire to fight, succumbed to the illness two days later. She will be deeply missed by many.

Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family during a Memorial Reception at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB, on Monday, August 20, 2018 from 12:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M.

In memory of Lorraine and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the MPN Research Foundation, 180 N. Michigan Ave., Suite 1870, Chicago, IL, 60601; or to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada, #590, 1212 – 31 Avenue N.E., Calgary, AB, T2E 7S8.

One Condolence for “WATTS, Lorraine”

  1. Sandra (Grey) Wood By says:

So sorry to read of Lorraine’s passing. We were classmates from way back when. We were in Hamilton Junior High School and then later in the LC.I. high school. She was always a lovely and friendly woman even way back then. My sympathy to all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. So happy to know that she went back to school and earned herself a degree in Social Work. But so sorry to hear that she is gone and resting now. Good memories of her personality and character.
