Gerald “Gerry” Dean Yorgason of Fort Macleod, AB, passed away on December 4, 2012 at the age of 86 years.
Gerry is survived by his children John (Lonnie) Yorgason, Barry Yorgason, Cathy (Terry) Doerkson, Danny (Wendy) Smith; grandchildren Megan (Eric) Hardy, Nicholas Yorgason, Taylor Yorgason, Natasha Yorgason, Angela (Ernie) Higbee, Jamie Weiss, Jesse Smith, Adam Smith; great grandchildren Emerson Hardy, Isabella Hardy, Mack Higbee, Cameron Higbee, Greyem Higbee and his sister Sherley Wesley. Gerry was predeceased by his parents Nels Hollis and Laura York Yorgason; sisters Vera (Adolf) Johnson, Leola (Lawrence) Pole, Laura (Roy) Barid, Veda (Lester) Mulholland; brothers William Floyd Yorgason, Fredrick Bryon Rycroft, Edward Yorgason and great grandchild Molly-Anna Hardy.
Gerry was born in Granum, AB on February 5th, 1926 and was the 8th of 10 Children. He took his schooling in Granum and at the age of 16 he went to work for his father at the family garage until 1960 when he came to Fort Macleod and started Gerry’s Trading Post and raised his family; Johnny, Barry, Danny and Cathy, to which his whole life revolved around. Gerry will always be remembered being busy on the go, wheeling and dealing, travelling about, and his famous saying “See ya later kid.”
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M., on Friday, December 7, 2012 at the TRINITY UNITED CHURCH, Fort Macleod, AB. 220- 20th St., Fort Macleod, AB Reverend Eras Van Zyl officiating.
