BROWN Shireen
Posted: April 4th, 2013SHIREEN “SHERRY” BROWN, of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully with her family at her side, at St. Therese Villa, Lethbridge, AB., on March 28, 2013 at the age of 76 years.
Sherry dedicated her life to creating a loving home for her 6 children; Dan (Deb) Grady of Exshaw, AB, Colleen Grady of Lethbridge, AB, Brian (Joi) Grady of Arlington, TX, Kevin (Marj) Grady of Edmonton, AB, Kathleen (Mike) Seeley of Salmon Arm, BC, Jennifer (Carl) Dueck of Lethbridge, AB; 13 grandchildren which gave her great pride: Darby, Kai, Zenia, Casey, Nicole, Karson, Reid, Kennedy, Chelsea, Payton, Kevin, Sara and Erin and her beloved dog Maggie.
She was predeceased by her mother Margaret A Brown and father Dr. T.E. Brown. Sherry was born in Lethbridge, Alberta on July 13, 1936. She graduated from St. Joseph’s High School in 1954. Sherry received her Bachelor of Arts with a major in Sociology from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington.
In 1974 she moved with her 6 children, German Shepherd, 2 parakeets and a hamster back to Lethbridge to start a new life.
Sherry was an Addictions Counsellor for AADAC while she completed her second Bachelor Degree in Social Work thru the University of Calgary.
Upon completion of her second degree, she began her 23 year career as a Psychiatric Social worker at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital.
Sherry also taught at the Lethbridge Community College and hosted a local T.V. show discussing issues of addiction.
Sherry loved life. She had many friends with whom she participated in dress clubs, played scrabble, drank coffee, coordinated an annual murder mystery dinner, coordinated birthday parties and hosted regular Sunday dinner.
Sherry had a generous spirit, always opened her home to anyone needing a meal or a stray animal needing loving care.
Her unshakeable faith got her through some of the toughest times.
She will be dearly missed by her 6 children and 13 grandchildren and the many people whose lives she generously touched.
A special thank you for the tender care given to her by Dr. J. Raphael, Dr. E. Wilde, Dr. L. Gillis and Dr. E. Bly.
Memorial Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Ryan Dueck officiating.
