HOUSE Ronald

It is with heartfelt sadness that the family of Ronald Herbert House announce his passing on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at the age of 85 at the Chinook Regional Hospital. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 63 years Jean, his sons Barry, Murray (Sheri), Kevin, his daughter Arlene (Darren) and daughter-in-law Lillian. Ron is also survived by 11 grandchildren as well as 6 great- grandchildren, all of whom he adored. He is also survived by his brother Ray (Minnie) of Edmonton and his sister Dorothy (Howard) of Winnipeg as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Blair in 2001, two brothers and one sister. Ron worked for the International Harvester Company for over 25 years starting as a Parts Person in Winnipeg. Ron worked his way up the ranks with determination and hard work as a Zone Manager then Sales Manager in Lethbridge. He was transferred to Fort St John, BC to open a new Company Store then on to Moose Jaw, SK for the next one, eventually ending up back in Lethbridge. In 1977 Ron acquired the International Harvester dealership in Lethbridge known as R.H. House International. After his retirement in1985 Ron and Jean began heading south and became “Snow Birds” for the next decade or so cultivating many new friendships with people from many different places. Ron loved to golf and did so into his 80s until knee surgery took him out of the game. Over the years he and Jean golfed at many wonderful courses during their travels and he also acquired 5 Hole in One awards for his efforts. When Ron was 77 he managed to golf his age which was his goal every year. Ron loved to play hockey as a young man and was a very talented athlete. Over the years winters were spent at the arena. Ron coached his boys in hockey for many years and was respected by his players and their parents for his fair unbiased coaching ability. If it wasnt hockey at the arena he was watching Arlene figure skate. After his kids were grown he rekindled his love of playing the game with the Coaldale Sugar Daddies. A Celebration of Life will be held on April 28, 2014 at 11:00 am in the Italian Canadian Cultural Centre -1511 St Edwards Blvd North, Lethbridge.
