1916 June 10 – 2016 March 11
With sadness of heart and much love we announce the passing of AGNES MARION BOURNE our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Words cannot express how much this wonderful ‘gem’ will be missed by her family, friends and all who knew her. Anyone who met her could feel of her love and compassion. She will be remembered for her smile, hugs and a listening ear. She was an example of faith, service, generosity and an inspiration to all.
Marion graduated in 1943 at Guelph, ON, as a nurse and came to Magrath in 1944 where she worked and later became matron of the hospital for 17 years. She had a special way of helping patients feel comfortable and secure. She met the love of her life while working in Magrath. They shared 53 years of married life together before Doug passed away in 1998.
Marion is survived by her daughter Helen (Floyd) Cook of Claresholm and special son Barrie of Magrath. Grandchildren Jason (Alwyn) Cook of Strathmore, Juli (Lance) Miller of Magrath, Jana (Cam) Blumel of Beaumont, Adrian (Amber) Cook of Claresholm, Vance (Randa) Cook of Brooks and 23 great-grandchildren. Marion was predeceased by many, many loved ones.
The family would like to thank the staff of Greystoke’s for their excellent care and love. Because of their service Marion’s wish of being able to stay in her own home was fulfilled.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Magrath Stake Center, in Magrath, Alberta on Saturday, March 19th at 11:00 a.m. Friends may meet the family at the Church from 10:00-10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Interment to follow in the Magrath Cemetery.
In memory of Marion, donations may be made to the Southern Alberta Society for the Handicapped, Box 280, Magrath, AB T0K 1J0.
