KELLY Inez
Posted: April 25th, 2016Mrs. Inez Kelly
1938 – 2016
It is with great sadness and warm memories that the family of Inez Kelly announces her passing on April 18, 2016, at the age of 77.
She is survived by her children Michael (Jonnie), Joanne (David McGarva), Patrick (Bing), grandchildren Erin, Ben and Tim Kelly, Liam and Sian McGarva and Eva Kelly and Mandy Hong. Inez is also survived by her sister Joanne and brothers Danny, Terry, Wavell and Johnny.
Inez is predeceased by her beloved husband Bill Kelly, her parents Joseph and Opal (Masterton) McCormack, her brothers Hugh, Robert (Bobby), James (Jimmy) and infant brother Charlie as well as her sisters Margaret and Isabel.
Inez was born in Loggieville, New Brunswick. She attended Loggieville School, Hotel Dieu Hospital Nursing Program and St. Thomas University. Our father, the late Bill Kelly, followed his sweetheart to Lethbridge and later they both went back to Loggieville, New Brunswick to get married in August of 1962. Like Bill, Inez was a very outgoing and social person. She enjoyed golf, bridge, book club, going to the gym, shopping, reading and going to dances and parties.
Inez was an excellent student and earned top marks in primary and nursing school. Inez also achieved excellent grades in university and was named to the Dean’s list while at St. Thomas. She was offered numerous positions following graduation from University. Her adventurous spirit took her to Lethbridge, Alberta to teach at the nursing school at St. Michael’s Hospital. This was the start of a remarkable career in healthcare that started with teaching and spanned into nursing and hospital administration. Inez also devoted years of volunteer service as a school board trustee and chairperson, as a member of the University of Lethbridge Senate and as a Board member for the Chinook Health Region. Inez’s career and volunteer accomplishments were recognized in 1988 when she received Lethbridge’s Women of Distinction Award, Women in Business – a very proud moment for our family.
Inez deeply loved her parents, brothers, sisters and children. She cherished the time spent with her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered.
Our family would like to thank everyone who was part of Inez’s life. In particular we would like to thank family and friends for their love, support and kindness. We extend a special thank you to the doctors and health care providers, especially Dr. Ireland, Dr. Pahulje and the staff at St. Michael’s.
