LANMAN, Robert “Bob” Allan 1953 – 2017

Bob was a patient and respectful son and brother, a caring and supportive friend, an athlete and a coach, a teacher and department head, a volunteer, a step-dad, a healthcare devotee, a blind man, and a solitary retiree…wait a minute – that’s 9 lives, that’s enough! After a somewhat prolonged and often challenging dance with life, Bob died peacefully during a sunny afternoon nap on September 17, 2017. He is survived by his guide dog Harris, sisters: Dr. Geri Lanman, Edie Kendall, Janice (Paul) Nadon, Susan (Hans) Gryzenhout, and Deidre Lamone; brother, Pat (Wendy) Lanman; stepdaughters: Leslie (Tom) DeRuyter and Kristy (Darren) Blair; along with several step-grandchildren, a few nieces and nephews, friends, and relatives. He was predeceased by his parents, Marg and Paddy Lanman, his brother Evan in 1984, and brother-in-law Buck Kendall in 2016. Reverend Stephen London will conduct a Memorial Service on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 2:00pm at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Parish, 13 Brower Drive, Sherwood Park. No flowers please. Memorial donations may be made by those who wish to do so to any of the following charities: Dogs With Wings, Canadian Diabetes Association, Kidney Foundation of Canada, and/or Canadian National Institute for the Blind.
