BAKER, Melba
Posted: April 17th, 2018MELBA (WILDE) BAKER passed away peacefully on April 10, 2018 in Lethbridge Alberta, at the age of 96 years.
Melba was born in Lethbridge on March 7, 1922 and raised in Welling. Melba attended normal school in Edmonton and taught in Edson, Magrath, California, then to Polson, Montana until 1976. She then moved back to Canada where she taught in Warner until 1978. On August 28, 1978, she married childhood friend Bryan Baker, moved to Lethbridge, and lived there until her passing.
Melba loved her family and friends, and liked nothing better than sharing time with them. She enjoyed her grandchildren, games, old musicals, and conversation. She also loved gardening, crocheting, genealogical work, music, travelling with Bryan and her sons, and participating in community plays. Her belief in the LDS religion was very important to her and volunteered for many positions throughout the years.
Besides her parents Floyd and Delecta Wilde, she was predeceased by her loving husband Bryan, her first husband, Roy Ackroyd, sisters Elaine Wilde, LaRee (Del) Low, Bernice Wilde, Marjorie Wilde, and a brother, Murray (Vonda) Wilde. She is survived by her sons, Alan (Virginia) Ackroyd, Richard (Valerie) Ackroyd, Stewart (Debra) Ackroyd, stepsons Bob (Gloria) Baker, Jim (Karla) Baker, John (Lynda) Baker, stepdaughters Kathy (Dave) Thomas, Carolyn Baker, Maude Baker and many grand/great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Words cannot express what a great person Melba was. She was a very loving, caring person, touched the lives of many, and will be fondly remembered by all.
A Funeral Service will be held in THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS, FAIRMONT CHAPEL 205 Fairmont Blvd S, Lethbridge, at 1:00 pm Friday April 20, 2018. The viewing will be held prior to the Service from 12:00 to 12:45 pm at the church with burial to follow at Temple Hill Cemetery in Raymond, Alberta.

Just happened upon he obituary for Melba today and wanted to offer my condolences to her family, many of whom were friends of mine and of my family.
