MANJI, Amir
Posted: May 19th, 2018Amir Manji, beloved husband and father, passed away on May 11, 2018 after a year of bravely facing stage IV metastatic prostate cancer.
Amir will be dearly missed by his wife of 44 years, Saker, and his three daughters, Natasha, Nimisha and Zohra. He worked hard to build a beautiful life for his family and contribute to his community.
Amir left Tanzania in 1971 to start a life in Canada. He and Saker met and married in Vancouver, B.C., and in 1979 arrived in Coaldale, Alberta to start their business. Over the course of 30 years, Coaldale Eggs became the second largest egg grading operation in Alberta. A man with the ability to turn his vision into reality, Amir was proud to work with local partners to further his passion for business into the Lethbridge real estate and hospitality markets. He cared deeply about building trusted relationships, which led to many valued friendships over his career.
A respected elder in the Ismaili Muslim community, Amir led the Lethbridge congregation for 28 years and served the community wholeheartedly with humility, tolerance and generosity. Nothing made him happier than to see the community working together, supporting each other. From the youngest to the oldest member of the community, Amir dedicated himself to their well being.
The Manji family is profoundly grateful to Dr. Shakoor, Dr. Ghose, Dr. Brigden and teams at the Jack Ady Cancer Centre at the Chinook Regional Hospital Cancer Center, as well as the nursing team of ward 4C for their unwavering and compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to the Jack Ady Cancer Centre of the Chinook Regional Hospital.
