WREN LON ATWOOD

1943 – 2018

With love in our hearts we announce that Wren Lon Atwood passed away peacefully on Tuesday Oct 9, 2018 at the age of 75 years after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s.

Wren was born April 24, 1943 in Lethbridge, Alberta. He lived his early years in Raymond and moved to Bow Island when he was 11 years old. He was an active, dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served a mission in the French East Mission.

Upon returning home he married his sweetheart, Linda Litchfield. They took over the family farm and raised 8 children: Lonna (Jerry) Purnell, Douglas (Rachel), Tammy (Craig) Maki, Lloyd (Rachel), Leon (Jodi), Nancy (Eric) Bly, Ken (Renata), Jesse (Barb). He was very active in sports, especially basketball and fast pitch. He coached basketball in Burdett and Bow Island for 30 years, where he became known for his hard pressing defence and fast-break style of play.

Wren also leaves behind 34 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren who all love him dearly. He loved to sing and tell stories to his grandkids about his youth and family history. All will cherish his memory as a very kind and loving husband, father, and grandfather.

He is survived by siblings (Eileen), Nola (David) Brandley, Dan (DeAnne), Layne (Margaret), Karlee (Duane) Howard, Harding, Jan (Linda), and daughter-in-law Robyn.

He was predeceased by his parents, Jesse and Helen, and by brothers Jay and Larry, daughter-in-law Geneva (Ken) and grandson Steven (Jesse).

The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, NORTH STAKE CENTRE, 560 Highlands Blvd West, Lethbridge.

Friends may meet the family on Friday, October 19, 2018 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at SALMON AND SONS FUNERAL HOME, 433 Stubb Ross Road South, Lethbridge, or prior to the service at the church on Saturday from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m.

Due to allergies, please do not send any flowers and refrain from using perfumes, colognes, or other scented products.
