SALOFF

LOUISE SALOFF, of Lethbridge, beloved wife of Frank Saloff, passed away peacefully at St. Michael’s Health Centre Palliative Care Unit, on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at the age of 72 years.

Louise is survived by her two children: son Calvin (Cheryl) of Drayton Valley and his children Pte. Denele Saloff of CFB Wainright, Kaelin Saloff (Langdon) and Stefan Saloff (Edmonton); and daughter Catharine Schamber (Brian) of Calgary and their daughters: Grace, Sarah and Victoria. She was also survived by her brothers: Calvin (Christel) of Regina, Ronald (Sylvia) of Medicine Hat, Don (Kathie) of Vancouver and Gregory of Edmonton; and sister-in-law Angelaya of Vancouver.

She was predeceased by her brothers: Gordy, Gilbert and Leonard.

Louise and Frank were married on July 14, 1984. She started her career in 1991, working at Sifton Children’s Services. She was known for her creative and dramatic ways of helping youth overcome personal challenges. She worked for Lethbridge Child & Family Services for 25 years, retiring in 2016. Her passion was empowering woman to overcome difficult times and make their lives safe.

She was not ready to retire from social work, so she used these skills in retirement in a different way. Louise is a former Vice President of the Lethbridge Metis Nation, Lethbridge local. She has been working at Lethbridge College Indigenous Cultural Support Program. Her listening ear and positive outlook with students has made her a treasured grandmother to many students.

She loved Lethbridge and giving back to her community is what inspired her to run for City Counselor in the 2017 election.

The family would like to thank Dr. D Gibb, Dr. R. Tadros and Dr. E. Smuts, as well as the nurses on 4B and St. Michael’s Palliative Care Team for all of their care during her very brief illness.
