PAUL, Gustav “Gus”Posted: May 3rd, 2022
GUSTAV “GUS” PAUL, of Lethbridge, passed away in Lethbridge on Friday, April 29th, 2022, at the age of 90 years.
Gus was born Nov. 6, 1931 in Skirsnemune, Lithuania to John and Anna Pauliukaitis. Prior to immigrating to Canada, when he was 17 years old, Gus spent many of his childhood years in Lithuania enjoying fishing with his brothers, Ewalt and Johnny. Having settled in Magrath, Gus got a job at the local garage and then attended SAIT where he attained his Automotive Mechanic’s licence.
A spiritual man, Gus met his future wife Marlene Fellger in the Lutheran church in Magrath. They were married in 1956 and welcomed their three children Monty, Teri and Clark. In the early years, Gus worked at Fred King Motors and then Enerson’s prior to his tenure and retirement from AGT/TELUS.
Between fishing, golfing and enjoying his grandkids, Gus always had time for dancing and playing his accordion. Even well into his 80’s Gus lit up the room with his music and the ladies always lined up to dance with him.
For most of his 90 years, Gus enjoyed a happy, active and healthy life. The impact of COVID-19 on the world also took its toll on Gus. Even through his final days, Gus’ optimism served him well and was an inspiration to everyone around him.
Gus was predeceased by his brother (Johnny), father (John), mother (Anna), brother (Ewalt) and his wife (Marlene).
He is survived by his sister Lucy, children Monty (Roma), Teri, Clark (Eva), grandchildren Jason (Thea), Kelly (Ryan), Amanda, Brandon, Tess, and his great grandchildren Arley, Leaya, Katerina, and Eliana.

We are sorry to hear of Gus’s passing. I enjoyed working with Gus at AGT and listening to him talk about his children, his life and fishing adventures. He took me ice fishing and I took him out on our boat on Chin Reservoir and the wind come up and there were some large waves. I trusted our boat but I not to sure Gus did, but it was great fun even though it was a white knuckle ride for Gus.
