HERMAN ELFRING 1949 ~ 2026 It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of an amazing husband, father, papa, brother, uncle, and friend. Herman was born on July 19th, 1949, in Pannerden, Netherlands and passed away peacefully on Friday, June 5, 2026, with his adoring family by his side.
Herman is survived by his beloved wife, Carla, with whom he shared 29 wonderful years of marriage, and by his children, Nicole (Adam), Calvin (Christina), and Kimberly (Bjorn). He also leaves behind six cherished grandchildren: Liam, Zachary, Adriana, Kurtis, Isabella, and Leopold. Herman is survived by his siblings, Alice, Margaret, Maria (Derald), Dienie (Les), Jake (Liz), Ben (Rhea), and Corrie, as well as many nieces, nephews, and their families. He is also survived by his extended Sewell family, including Shirley, Deb (Doug), and Dale (Donella).
Herman was predeceased by his parents, Bernard and Margaret, and his sister, Annie.
Herman will be remembered not only for his devotion to his family but also for his deep commitment to his community. He was a familiar and respected presence in Lethbridge, and through his 40-year career with Pepsi, he was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and the many lasting connections he built over the years. He generously gave his time and energy to organizations and activities that brought people together. He particularly enjoyed his involvement with the Lethbridge Hurricanes and the Lethbridge Country Club, where he formed many lasting friendships and contributed to the vibrant community spirit that he valued so much.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026. Further information will follow closer to the date.
