KOREVAAR November 3, 1944 – June 26, 2026 2 Corinthians 12:9 Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Arie Pieter Korevaar, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, into the arms of his Saviour on Friday, June 26, 2026.
Arie is lovingly remembered by his wife, Wanda; his children, Arie (Kirston), Debra Scholer, David (Andrea), Elaine Dekens (Anthony), Laura Nugent (Bryce), and stepdaughter Luiza Zukowska; along with his cherished grandchildren: Samuel, Sarah, Ophelia, Adaline, August, Lincoln, Alena, Jakob, Ethan, Ava, Levi, Daniel, Rachel, Taryn, Sophia, Charlie, and step-grandson Bartek. He was predeceased by his first wife, Lena, his parents, several siblings, and other beloved family members.
Born in Bleskensgraaf, Zuid Holland, the Netherlands during World War II, Arie grew up on the family dairy farm, developing a lifelong love of farming, hard work, and faith. After studying agriculture and serving in the Dutch Army, he immigrated to Alberta in 1976. Soon after arriving, he met Lena Van Dijk, and they married in 1977. In 1981, they purchased the family farm near Cranford, where they raised their five children with faith, family, and farming at the heart of their lives.
Arie loved farm life and enjoyed many hobbies, including basket weaving, cheesemaking, and 4-H activities with his children. Following Lena’s unexpected passing in 2000, he found renewed purpose serving as a director with the Alberta Sugar Beet Growers. In 2006, he married Wanda Lojewska, welcoming her daughter Luiza and grandson Bartek into the family. Together they enjoyed many happy years on the farm, traveling to Europe and wintering in Yuma, Arizona.
After suffering a major stroke in 2023, Arie moved to the Coaldale Health Centre, where his warm personality, humour, and kind spirit continued to brighten the lives of family, friends, and caregivers alike.
Arie will be remembered as a gentle giant with unwavering faith, a generous heart, and a gift for making lasting friendships. A devoted member of Trinity Reformed Church, he loved sharing coffee, conversation, and laughter. Above all, he deeply loved his family and faithfully supported them throughout his life.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Coaldale Health Centre and Chinook Regional Hospital for their compassionate care. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation (heartandstoke.ca)
