SVOBODA, Marvin
Posted: July 8th, 2026 MARVIN LEE SVOBODA September 26, 1966 ~ July 5, 2026 It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved dad, Marvin Lee Svoboda, on July 5, 2026, following a tragic accident near Pincher Creek, Alberta.
Marvin is survived by his three children: Katelynn (Mike), mother of Jacob, Malachi, Kalissa, and a granddaughter expected this fall; Ash (Brett), parents of Theodore, Elliott, and Odette; and Nathaniel (Jamie), parents of Emeth and Eden.
He is also lovingly remembered by his mother, Gladys Svoboda (née Anderson); his sister, Monica; his brother-in-law, Jason; his nephew, Keith; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and many dear friends.
Marvin was predeceased by his beloved wife, Laurielee Svoboda (2023), and his father, Stan Svoboda (2019).
Marvin lived a life rooted in faith, compassion, and service. He was deeply devoted to serving the Lord and faithfully served in his church in Lethbridge, where he found purpose, fellowship, and countless opportunities to share God’s love with others. He dedicated much of his time to Celebrate Recovery, the Lethbridge Soup Kitchen, and other ministries that became a central part of his life. He had a remarkable gift for making people feel seen and heard, always willing to offer a listening ear, words of encouragement, and a compassionate heart to anyone facing difficult times. As the apartment manager at Belamoral House, he cared deeply for the residents and took great pride in serving his community with kindness and humility.
Last year, Marvin found another community he truly cherished when he joined the Southern Alberta Bikers. Riding his motorcycle brought him immense joy, and he often spoke about the friendships he had built and the freedom of sharing the open road with others who shared his passion.
Above all else, Marvin was “Papa.” His grandchildren were the greatest joy of his life, and he treasured every opportunity to spend time with them – making memories, sharing laughter, and creating traditions they will carry with them forever. A lifelong and devoted Saskatchewan Roughriders fan, green was his wardrobe of choice, and Rider gear could always be found in his closet. He loved sharing his passion for the team with his grandchildren and took them to games whenever he could, creating memories that they will forever cherish. He was especially excited to welcome his newest granddaughter this fall and had already made sure she had Rider swag to wear.
Just one day before his passing, he asked if we had chosen a special nickname for the baby, suggesting something sweet like “Honeydew.” We hadn’t yet, but that simple conversation has become a treasured memory and a beautiful reminder of how eagerly he was waiting to meet her. Although they never had the chance to meet, she will always know how much her Papa already loved her.
Marvin will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his servant’s heart, his generosity, and the love he gave so freely to everyone around him. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched through his kindness, compassion, and willingness to help others without hesitation.
Marvin will be laid to rest in Rosetown, Saskatchewan, on Wednesday, July 8, 2026. A memorial service will be held in Lethbridge at 11:00AM on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at the Lethbridge Christian Tabernacle Church, (1805 – 9 Ave N, Lethbridge, Alberta). Lunch will follow.
While our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing he has been reunited with the love of his life, Laurielee, and welcomed home into the arms of his Lord and Saviour.
He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
