HISAOKA, TOMIYE August 6, 1927 – July 13, 2026 Mrs. Tomiye Hisaoka passed away peacefully on Monday, July 13, 2026, at her home surrounded by love.
Tomiye was the beloved wife of the late Jiro (Jerry) Hisaoka. She will be lovingly remembered by her three sons: Neil (Livia) and their family, Derek (Allison), and Cory (Miko); Barry & Tim. Tomiye is also survived by sisters-in-law: Michie Kawasaki, Heather Anderson; brother-in-law Ken Kurio; and a wealth of nieces & nephews (whom we are most grateful for).
She was predeceased by her husband Jiro; parents Riichi & Misako Sasaki; sisters Yoshiye Ikebuchi, Chitoa “Alice” Ohashi, and Yemiko “Amy” Kurio; and brothers Jiro & Nobuo Sasaki.
Tomiye was born in Clayburn, B.C. Tomiye & her family were displaced to the Welling area during the Japanese internment of WWII. She earned her office admin/typist education and parlayed that into a human resource specialization for St. Michael’s Hospital and later the University of Lethbridge.
Tomiye’s greatest love was for her family and extended family. She was intelligent, compassionate, encouraging, and extremely thoughtful.
Per Mom’s wish, a private family gathering and celebration of life will be held at a future date. Her family is thankful for a life well lived and again would especially like to thank her nieces & nephews and her many friends made over many years.
Koden and flowers are gratefully declined. For those who wish, memorial donations to a charity of your choice.
We love you Mom/Grandma and you will forever be in our hearts.
