HERASEMLUK, Dusi
Posted: July 31st, 2026 DUSI (EVDOKIA) HERASEMLUK 1931 ~ 2026 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Dusi Herasemluk, beloved wife of the late Henry Herasemluk, who passed away peacefully on Friday, July 10, 2026, at St. Mary’s Convent in Bluffton, Alberta, just shy of her 95th birthday.
Born on August 12, 1931, in Ukraine, Dusi experienced the hardships of the Second World War before immigrating to Canada in 1948. Her journey took her from Russia to Austria, then England, before arriving by ship in Halifax and settling on a farm near Taber, Alberta.
Dusi was devoted to her faith and gave many years of service to the Assumption of the Holy Orthodox Church. She worked as the head chef for the Legion banquet hall and later as a cake decorator at IGA. She especially loved baking and cooking for her family and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister.
Dusi was predeceased by her husband, Henry Herasemluk; her parents; her son, George Herasemluk; and her sister, Vera Shaskin.
She is lovingly remembered by her sons, Harry (Calani) Herasemluk and Jerry (Kim) Herasemluk; her grandchildren, Jason (Ivette), Kevin, Nick (Jordan), John, and Joe (Krista); her great-grandchildren, Alexa, Mark, Courtney, Isley, Chloe, Emerlee, Noah, and Max; and her sisters, Luba Macintosh and Linda (Dale) Steinbeck.
A (40 day) Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 am, on Sunday, August 16, 2026 at the Dormition of the Holy Theotokos Orthodox Church, 907 9 Ave North, Lethbridge, AB.
Dusi was peacefully laid to rest at St. Mary’s Convent in Bluffton, Alberta.
