Doris Marie Gordon (Hollihan) February 18, 1938 РAugust 3, 2026 Doris Marie Gordon (n̩e Hollihan) passed away peacefully on August 3, 2026, at High River Hospital at the age of 88.
Doris was born on the family homestead in Goddard, Alberta. She was the youngest of eight children and grew up on a farm in the Foremost area. Life on the farm was hard work, but Doris often shared how much she loved her family and the time they had together.
As a young woman, Doris was active in Girl Guides and excelled in school sports, especially basketball. She attended one year of nursing school before completing a textiles program at SAIT.
In 1962, Doris married Les Gordon, and together they built a family. She became an instant mother to four children, later welcoming Wyann in 1963 and Glenn in 1964.
Doris was a proud member of the Royal Purple and was an avid curler. In 1970, she and her family moved to Banff, where she worked at the Banff Credit Union. They later moved to Calgary, where she continued her career with First Calgary Financial. After retiring, Doris and Les spent time in Vernon, British Columbia, before returning to Calgary to be closer to their family and grandchildren. Never one to stay idle, Doris returned to work at the credit union and continued until she was 75.
In 2006, Les and Doris moved to High River to be closer to their family. During this time, Doris became deeply involved in her church community, faithfully attending services and Bible study. She found a renewed sense of purpose and dedicated herself to cooking and baking for church functions. She was an enthusiastic supporter of her grandchildren’s sports and loved to cheer them on.
Doris was a talented cook and baker, a skilled seamstress, and a creative crafter and decorator. She loved her family and friends and enjoyed staying busy. Full of energy and spirit and continued her love of dancing up until days before she passed.
Doris will be lovingly remembered by her children: Barbara Gordon, Kathy Lyster (Mel), Joan Fiddler, Michael Gordon (Susanne), Wyann Gordon, and Glenn Gordon (Donna). She also leaves behind 15 cherished grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Les (2020); her parents, Jim and Inez Hollihan; four brothers and three sisters; her son-in-law, Jim Fiddler; and her great-grandson, Callum Leeds.
Also survived by two special friends who helped and stood by her. Thank you Bertha Weller and Arlyne Godson.
Doris will be remembered for her warmth, strength, energy, deep faith, and unwavering love for her family.

A celebration of Doris’s life will be held at The Crossing Church, 1802 – 9 Avenue SE, High River, Alberta, on August 24 at 2:00 p.m.
