REIMER, Nellie

Posted: September 19th, 2026

REIMER NELLIE TINA REIMER was born in Coaldale, Alberta in October 1938, to Peter and Anna (née Petker) Born(n). She was the eighth of nine children, growing up on a farm north of Vauxhall. She enjoyed a large extended family, and time with relatives was always special to her. She attended church and school in Vauxhall, and resided there for most of her life, with shorter stints in Calgary, Winnipeg, Foam Lake and in later life, Lethbridge. She passed away in St. Therese Villa in Lethbridge, Wednesday, September 16, 2026.
Nellie married Gerhard Reimer in June 1960 and to their union added four children, Sandra, Marvin, Denise and Jeffrey. Mom took pride in her role as wife and mother and later as a grandmother and great-grandmother. She was always active in various church and community ventures, whether that be a pastor’s wife, Sunday School teacher, prayer warrior, hosting guests in her home, attending music and sporting events for her children, community events and curling, or keeping up with the extended family relationships. Nellie was blessed to have a large family of support, her parents, Peter and Anna, her siblings Anna (Peter) Petkau, Sarah Born, Peter (Mary) Born, Ike (Betty) Born, Helen (Ike) Klassen, John (Doris) Bornn, Mary MacPherson, Dan MacPherson, and Jake (Annette) Born and all their families. She also was loved by the Reimer family of John B and Anna Reimer, Ben (Margaret) Reimer, John (Marie) Reimer, Abe (Frieda) Reimer, Peter (Elfrieda) (Mary Ann) Reimer, Henry (Kathy) Reimer, Elma (Bert) Kornelson, Myrt (Clarence) Wall, Sue (Wayne) (Larry) Taylor and their extended families.
Nellie is survived by her spouse Gerhard, children: Sandra (Cam) Brown and their children Trenton, Tanaya (Dakota) Gagné, Rylan (Nikkie) and Ranelle; Marvin (Carole) and their daughter Lauren; Denise (Kevin) Esau and their children: Benjamin (Jennie), Krystal (Thomas) Mann, and Nicholas (Amanda); and Jeffrey (Sharmaine) and their children: Shiana (Clive) Bradley, Julia, and Abigail. She is also survived by her ten great grandchildren: Henry, Jillian, Lewis, Evelyn, Leo, Ivy, Peter, Mason, Osborne, and Claire, who brought her so much joy in her final years.
Nellie was the last surviving of her siblings, and is survived her in laws, Mary Born and Doris Bornn, Marie Reimer, Abe and Frieda Reimer, Peter and Mary Ann Reimer, Henry and Kathy Reimer, Elma and Bert Kornelson, Myrt Wall, Sue and Larry Taylor.
We are grateful for all the love and support shown to Nellie and the family from the staff and caregivers at St. Therese Villa, her home care supports prior to that, and especially her family and friends and church who visited and called. We have felt your love and prayers carry us.
