HARTLEY, Elizabeth “Beth”

HARTLEY Elizabeth Ann Hartley (Beth) was born on February 4, 1966, in Lethbridge, Alberta, the second daughter of Burton and Barbara Hartley.
Raised on a farm near Stirling, she learned the foundational values of hard work, resilience, and mental strength. During her formative years, she attended school in Stirling, served on the student council, and fulfilled many leadership roles within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Beth attended Brigham Young University, graduating in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science in Health Education, and went on to teach at American Fork High School. After marrying, she welcomed her first two boys, Wyatt and Chase, into her family. They later moved to Fort McMurray, Alberta, where her children Natalie and Matthew were born, before eventually relocating back to Stirling.
In May of 2025, Beth met the love of her life, Kent Johns, and the two were happily engaged in June of this year. Together, they shared an active and joyful life, bonding over traveling, hunting, fishing, shooting, hiking, and countless other fun adventures.
Beth was known by all who loved her as someone who loved purely and gave generously of herself for the people she cared about. She had a song in her heart. Her strength, kindness, laughter, love, and devotion to her family touched many lives.
She is survived by her beloved fiancé, Kent Johns; her children, Wyatt (Lexi), Chase, Natalie, and Matthew; her father, Burton Hartley; her sisters, Brenda (Doug) Sheen, Wendy (Robert) Mylroie, Christine McKee, and Margaret (Keith) Richards; her brother, Paul Hartley; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
A private family service will be held to honour Beth’s life.
