THIELEN, Laura

THIELEN LAURA MARIE THIELEN passed away peacefully at home in Lethbridge surrounded by family and caregivers on Tuesday, September 22, 2026. There was so much love in that room!
Laura leaves behind her siblings, Bev Matisz, Dianna Churcott, Brenda Sopow, Joan (Dick) DeWeert, Monty Thielen, Jackie (Ross) Ford, Monika Thielen (Malek Abdesselam), and many nieces and nephews. Laura was predeceased by her parents Edmund and Dorothy Thielen, brothers-in-law Jim Matisz and Terry Churcott, and nephew Wade Churcott.
Laura was born on December 2, 1955. She was mentally handicapped and had some health issues, her life was not without struggle but she was resilient and she lived to be 70 years old!
Laura was a very special girl, a ‘good girl’ as she liked to say. She touched so many people on her journey through life, we all feel honored to have been a part of it. She loved so many things… music (especially Elvis), animals (especially cats), flowers and bumble bees, food, a good cup of tea and boy did she love Jesus! She was so funny, she could make you laugh. She loved to snap her fingers and sing along to a good tune. She loved her family and she sure missed her mom after she passed away. We know that she is in heaven having the best cup of tea with her mom and laughing with her dad (Ed) as she sometimes called him and singing with the angels. We are so happy for her, and the angels!
We would like to thank all of the remarkable people that looked after Laura during her lifetime and especially the caregivers at her home, they went above and beyond for her and we are so grateful. We all will be missing her but can only imagine the joy she is experiencing now and we will smile through our tears.
We will be having a private Family Celebration and Graveside Service in Milk River where Laura will be laid to rest next to her mom and dad.
Laura had a big, beautiful smile and she said “I Love You” a lot. She left this world a better place. We should all take a page from her book.
