Posted: October 3rd, 2026 Moffatt, Donald Milton The family of Donald Milton Moffatt BA LLB are saddened to announce his peaceful passing on Sunday July 5, 2026 in Edmonton, Alberta.
Born in Lethbridge Alberta on October 7, 1947, Don was the oldest child of John Eric and Helen Lena Moffatt (nee Paskal). He was predeceased by his parents, younger brother John William Moffatt, paternal grandparents John Milton and Alberta Ina (Smith) Moffatt and maternal grandparents George and Sanchira (Yazlovasky) Paskal and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Don is survived by his loving friend Rhonda Kremko, his sisters, Patricia (Harry) Kirkland and Karen Macdonald (Peter Jenkins), Nephews and nieces Matthew Kirkland (Jenna Van Kempeima), Claire Kirkland (Fred Guay), Shannon Macdonald (Dave Cavanagh) and Dr. Barry Macdonald (Dr. Olov Kaarlson), and great niece and nephews Renee Guay, Dominic Vitt and Hank and Sam Cavanagh, as well as many cousins and friends.
Don was a quiet, humble man whose incredible memory and passionate interest in history and the Justice System led him to participate in Tuxis Boys Parliament in his youth and influenced his choice of education and careers. Born and raised in Lethbridge, Don attended public school there and. graduated from the University of Lethbridge with a BA in Political Science before continuing his education at the University of Alberta obtaining a Bachelor of Law (LLB) degree. Following the closing of his Law practice, he moved to Edmonton and joined the Bosco Foundation as Development Officer where his interest in history led to the designation of the St Francis Centre as a provincial historic property.
Active in Air Cadets in his youth, Don explored his love of flying and history and made lifelong friends. He was kind hearted and generous to family and friends and those in need. Don was an avid reader and always enjoyed stimulating his intellect with robust conversations storytelling and humour. His appreciation of music and trivia was generously shared by him. However, his true passion was his motorcycles and riding the roads with his likeminded friends.
Don’s family would like to thank Dr Curtis Johnston and Dr Neil Dhami and staff at the Royal Alexandra Hospital for their compassionate care of Don during his time there.
Donations in Don’s memory may be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation The Bosco Foundation or the charity of one’s choice.
Internment Saturday October 17, 2026 11am at Mountain View Cemetery 1210 Scenic Drive South, Lethbridge.
Celebration of Life to follow at 12:30 pm at Lakeview Lounge and Patio North Entrance, 101 Exhibition Way South, Lethbridge.
