SELMAN JAMES “JIM” RAY SELMAN, of Lethbridge, husband, father, Papa, brother and brother-in-law, passed away peacefully in the arms of his beloved wife on Saturday, October 24, 2026 at the age of 77 years.
Left to mourn is his wife of 56 years, Lynda; his sons, Lee and David; as well as his five-year-old grandson, Jaxon. Jim is also survived by his sisters, Linda (Tom) Englehart, and Marlene (Dan) Doerksen; brothers-in-law: David (Sheri) Carpenter, Russell (Yvonne) Carpenter, and John (Pat) Carpenter; and sister-in-law, Wendy Carpenter; as well as numerous special nieces and nephews.
Jim was predeceased by his son, Cameron; parents, Lynn and Evelyn Selman; father and mother-in-law, Johnny and Doreen Carpenter; and nephew, Dana Carpenter.
Jim was a classic car guy. He owned at least one old chevy from the age of 16. He loved his cars and being around other car guys, many of them lifelong friends.
Most of all, Jim loved his family. He was always there for them and they came before anything. Jim’s happiest moments were spent with his grandson; he was his reason for living. They both loved putting the top down on the Camaro, and going for a cruise. Jim worked for Black Velvet Distilling Company for 43 years, until his retirement in 2015.
Jim and Lynda met in 1966. They loved each other for 60 years. We can’t express how much he will be missed.
A Celebration of Jim’s Life will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2825 – 32 Street South, Lethbridge, AB, on Tuesday, November 3, 2026 at 2:00 P.M.
