1922 ~ 2013
Mrs. Frieda Grunwald, beloved wife of the late Mr. John Grunwald, passed away peacefully at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Monday, February 18, 2013, at the age of 90 years.  Frieda leaves to cherish her memory two children and their families:  son, Gordon (Miriam) Grunwald and their family, Mike (Nikki) Grunwald and kids Grayson and Quinn;  daughter, Sharon (John) Taupert and their family, Diane (Kokyum) Lim;  Conrad (Kelly) Taupert and kids, Isaiah and Anton;  Brad Taupert and kids, Jordan, Ashton, Easton and their mother, Chelsea Bluekens.  Frieda is also survived by four sisters, Helen, Lenora, Lee and Rhene;  brother-in-law, Allan as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by one sister, Kay.  Frieda always found a way to make the most of every day.  She would spend hours meticulously detailing her gardens, and always made time for a trip to the Co-op for coffee with friends.  Some of Frieda’s best memories would be those of times spent with her niece and best friend, Thelma, who accompanied her on numerous trips abroad.  Those wishing to honour Frieda’s memory may attend a come and go time of visitation to be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Friday, February 22, 2013, between 1:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M.  (Condolences may be expressed by visiting  If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Frieda’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, 124, 430 – 6 Avenue S.E., Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 2S8 or to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, 6007 – 1A Street S.W., Calgary, Alberta, T2H 0G5.  Honoured to serve the family is COOK SOUTHLAND Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 4V4.  Telephone:  403-527-6455.
