Irene is survived by her sister, Emma Davis; numerous nieces, nephews, brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws. Irene was born in Empress, AB to Henry and Amelia Schimpf and was raised on the family farm near Leader with her six siblings. In 1947, Irene married John in Kelowna, BC. Together they farmed and raised their children in the Leader area until 1988 when they retired to Medicine Hat.
