MARGUERITE WHITE

Marguerite Helen White, beloved wife of James Arnold White, passed away while surrounded by her family at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Saturday, May 26, 2018, at the age of 89 years. She was born on January 29, 1929, in Moose Jaw, SK., the third of four children to Roy and Mary Johnson and lived in Eastview District near Pasqua, SK. She attended Eastview, Central Collegiate and Normal schools in Moose Jaw and studied at the University of Saskatchewan. During University & College years she taught at Sunny South School in Indian Head, SK., Marmora School in Weyburn, SK., and Davey School at Moose Jaw. Marguerite met James White of Mankota, SK., and they were married on July 2, 1954, at Apostolic Church in Moose Jaw before moving onto Jim’s farm at Mankota. She then briefly taught at Wide View School and was a substitute teacher in Mankota. Marguerite and Jim raised four children on their Mankota farm and she was an active member of the United Church there. They both retired to Swift Current in 1986, before moving to Medicine Hat, AB., in 1993. Marguerite is survived by her husband, James; four children and their spouses, David (Susan) White, Kathryn (Rod) Hutton, Darrell (Val) White, Darren White (Pam Haddock); as well as numerous grandchildren and their spouses and great- grandchildren. Marguerite is also survived by her sister, Marion White and in-laws, Eleanor McClinton, Millie Barker, June Murray, Doreen (Grant) MacDonald, Paul White, Syd (Marlene) White, Richard (Eva) White, Pricilla (Bill) Remple and Earl (Freda) White; including her step-in-laws, Carol Knight, Mary Rivers, Leonard (Gail) Rivers and Marion (Dale) Stewart. She was predeceased by her parents: Roy and Mary Johnson; brothers; Gardiner Johnson & Jim Johnson; daughter, Karen White and in-laws, Constance Johnson, Gilbert White, Walter Murray, Helen (Donald) Henderson and Bob McClinton; step-in-laws, Gordon Rivers and Gerald Knight. The Celebration of Marguerite’s Life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat, on June 16, 2018 at 10:00 a.m., with Pastor Lance Duncalfe officiating.
