1920 ~ EVA ULMER ~ 2018
Posted: August 7th, 2018Eva Ulmer of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Reverend John Ulmer, passed away on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at the age of 97 years. Eva leaves to cherish her memory three grandchildren, Karen, Brian, and Sharon and their families; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Eva was predeceased by her husband, Reverend John Ulmer; her parents, Michael and Katherine Nitz; one step-son, Wilfred Ulmer; one step-daughter, Gertrude Ayling; her siblings, Michael Nitz, Theodore Nitz, Mary Anderson, Katherine Reule, Magdalene Weiss, Ida Sept, Olga Chaykowski, as well as one brother and three sisters in infancy. Eva was born on December 24, 1920 on the family farm in the Many Island District of Alberta, where she was also raised and educated. Eva always felt she had an interesting life. After her education she began her employment in domestic service, moving to factory work during World War II. After the war, she was employed by Eaton’s Canada until she took her business courses from Garbutt Business College. Upon graduation, she became employed with the Experimental Station at Suffield until marrying Reverend John Ulmer in 1962. Eva called the Teeoda Lodge home for 30 years. She was very involved in her church and a purchaser and avid reader of the Medicine Hat News until her passing. She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her family and friends. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1 Dunmore Road SE, on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. A public interment will take place at HILLSIDE CEMETERY, 10th Avenue and Gershaw Drive SW, on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. with a Celebration of Eva’s Life to follow at the CYPRESS VIEW FOUNDATION (TEEODA LODGE), 722 Bassett Crescent NW, on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Ken Edel officiating.
