Posted: August 13th, 2018Mr. Wm. G. “Gerry” Hanley, beloved husband of Mrs. Dorothy Hanley of Medicine Hat passed away on Sunday, August 5th, 2018 at the age of 92 years. Besides Dorothy, Gerry leaves to cherish his memory his children: Bill (Sherry) Hanley, and Sharon (Dean) Junkin; his grandchildren: Candace (Chris) Jones, Will “Curtis” Hanley, Cory Hanley (fiancée, Natasha Chandler), Deanna (Layne) Fossen, and Derek (Leeza) Junkin; his great grandchildren: Calico, Indigo, Layla, and Orlynn; one sister in law, Madge Hanley; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Gerry was predeceased by an infant son; his parents, Michael and Luella Hanley; and two brothers, Thomas and Carmond (Audrey). Gerry was born on July 19, 1926 in the Rainy River District of Ontario. He met the love of his life, Dorothy Banks, and they were married on November 20th, 1957 in Medicine Hat, celebrating 60+ years of marriage. Gerry spent 29 years with AGT after having worked with McGregor Telephones. After his retirement, Gerry worked at the former Best Western (Quality Inn) as well as donating much of his time to the local Women’s Shelter as a handy man of sorts. Gerry loved golfing, spending time with family and friends, but his greatest joy came from his family. He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.
