February 1, 1930 ~ October 8, 2018

On October 8, 2018, after 88 years of joyful life, Ronald Frank Miller passed away peacefully at the South Country Village in Medicine Hat. Ron was born in Medicine Hat, on February 1, 1930, the youngest of 4 children to Frank and Alberta Miller. He was predeceased by his parents; sisters, Beth and Clara; brother, Ken and his beloved daughter, Debbie. He is survived by his devoted wife, Esther; eldest daughter Janice; 4 grandchildren, Laura (David) Boswell, Darren Keeping, Jason and Ryan Walchuck; 8 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. Ron was raised in Medicine Hat and had an active youth playing sports. His interest and natural talents led him to the theatre stage as an actor, director and playwright which started a family tradition in the arts. He married the love of his life, Esther Mayer on a windy evening in the fall of ’53 and shared 65 beautiful years with her raising their family. Among other things, Ron worked as an insurance adjuster for the Co-operators and retired in his late 60’s. He was actively involved in the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes and enjoyed curling and golf. Ron had a profound influence on the lives of his family and community and believed in the power of music to bring people together. He was always singing and making people smile and laugh. He sang with the Barbershop Chorus, various quartets and loved musical theatre. Ron will be missed dearly by all those whose lives he touched. The family would like to thank the Sunnyside staff and volunteers for their care in his last couple of years. One Condolence for “RONALD MILLER”

  1. Leslie Shepard says:

To Esther and family. I am so sorry for the loss of Brother Ron, he was a great man in many ways, always out for a good time and a laugh.
Brother Ron has been missed at our lodge meeting these past years,
but will be missed even more by his wonderful wife Esther and family.
There will always be a place in our lodge room for brother Ron and his name will still be mentioned at certain times in our meetings.
I am so sorry that I will not be able to attend the celebration of life, but I will be in the UK.

    RIP Brother Ron
