1929 ~ LAVERNE SEITZ ~ 2022

Posted: June 1st, 2022

Laverne Oscar Seitz, loved well with a word and a smile. Nothing fancy. Just genuine. Laverne spoke of family, friends, caregivers going beyond expectations, showing him care with a love he himself planted and nurtured. Loved deeply by Christian and Hanna Seitz, Laverne shared that same love and affection with Yvonne (68 years), his boys, Cordell, Tim (Val), Dan (Carol), Todd (Sasha); and to 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and beyond to families of his brother and sisters; Yvonne’s as well, Harvey (Lorna) Seitz, Doreen (Reuben) Kurpjuweit, Grace (Wayne) Buss, Ruth (Roger) Heidinger, Howard (Gerry) Adam, and Edgar (Mae) Adam. Laverne built friendships with a greeting and a smile; living by the adage that “strangers are just friends you haven’t met yet.” A New Year’s baby, Laverne was born in 1929 enjoying farm life, cowboying and doing what needed doing in the Little Plume area, until falling head over heels for Yvonne and marrying her on October 16, 1954 then becoming dad to 4. Proud to be a dad, of raising a family, of making his independent way while accepting and acknowledging “to GOD be the Glory, great things he has done!” Laverne worked as a ‘Ditch Rider’ with St. Mary’s River Irrigation then became a school janitor in Medicine Hat remembering teachers and students with fondness, satisfied with making a difference in the lives of many. Laverne had a ‘bucket list’ for travel, Germany, Japan and the Holy Land to name a few. Retirement brought time to fish, RV, write poetry/songs, play pool and visit friends & family. 1. Amber says:

My deepest sympathies to Laverne’s family during this difficult time.
I had the pleasure of caring for Yvonne while working at MeadowRidge and I always looked forward to the days when I would see Laverne and listen to the amazing stories about his life. He was such a kind hearted man and always had a beaming smile upon his face.
I know he will be deeply missed.
    Rest in Paradise Laverne
