Gary Edward Lovig was born in Viking, Alberta and passed away the morning of June 1, 2022 in the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital due to cardiac complications in the setting of advanced lung cancer. He leaves to mourn his loving wife, Roselynn; daughter, Chandel Lovig (Mike Laevens) and two precious grandchildren, Ira and Annie of Medicine Hat. Also missing this humble and honest man are his sisters, Coreen (Butch) Hopaluk and Karen (Allan) Oldham as well as many close friends. Gary was predeceased by his parents, Gilbert and Elsie as well as brother, Norman. Gary was a successful realtor for many decades. In retirement, he loved tinkering with cars and being a general fixer-upper. He loved his grandchildren more than anything; his musical talents have been passed on to them. He will be loved and remembered for always. Thank you to all the healthcare workers who cared for Gary; your kindness meant everything. At Gary’s request, there will be no formal funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta, 119 – 114 Street N.W., Calgary, Alberta, T2N 1Z6.
