Gary George Hollingshead was born in Edmonton, AB., on February 11, 1939, and passed away peacefully at Masterpiece Southland Meadows in Medicine Hat with family by his side on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the age of 86 years.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Claire; daughters, Susan Hollingshead and Shauna (Bruce) Sederberg; grandchildren, Alexandra Payze, Danika Mattson, Clancy (Sarah) Sederberg, Olivia Sederberg (Layne Woods) and Lauryn (Brett) Salzl; great-grandchildren, River, Finley, Josie, Robin, Rosalind and Rowan; sister-in-law, Karen Charbonneau and brother-in-law, Arnie Ingram as well as numerous family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Bea Hollingshead and sister, Joyce Ingram.
Gary was known for his relaxed, happy demeanor and was always up for an adventure. He was an avid golfer, skier and runner who always said the activity was necessary so he could have desert at every meal. Gary had many interesting jobs over the years that eventually let to the proud ownership of G & C Bearing & Supply. He was involved in Kinsman and was also on several boards over the years. After retiring, Gary continued to be busy golfing, skiing and running, as well caring for his small apartment building. One of his favourite jobs was being a lifty at Hidden Valley Ski hill when he was in his 70’s; he laughed at being the old guy at the ski hill. Gary met many wonderful people along the way and was always ready for a visit.
Gary will be remembered without the proceedings of a formal funeral service. (Condolences may be expressed by visiting www.cooksouthland.com) In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to a charity of your choice. Honoured to serve the family is
