NOEL ANDERSON 1969 ~ 2026
Noel Stewart Anderson of Medicine Hat, Alberta, beloved husband of Wendy Anderson passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, after a heroic battle with cancer, at the age of 56 years.
Noel was born in Malta, to Elizabeth “Sabet” and Norman Anderson, on December 4, 1969. Since Noel was the son of a soldier, his father was stationed in several countries around the world. After Malta, Noel, his parents and his sister, Heather, lived in Germany, England, Cypress and Holland. In 1979, Noel went to Queen Victoria School in Dunblane, Scotland. This is a boarding school where many children of mostly Scottish military personnel went. After graduating from QVS in 1986, at the age of 16, Noel joined an aeronautical engineer apprenticeship program. He then served in the British Military for 23 years around the world. It was when Noel was stationed at BATUS, in Suffield, that he met Wendy through mutual friends. People have described Noel as authentic, honourable, giving, and a man who didn’t suffer fools. You always knew where you stood with Noel. He was a larger-than-life personality, who loved fiercely and acted with faithful, steadfast loyalty. Wendy and Noel were married in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Valentine’s Day in 2010. Their married life was centred around walking dogs, going to the gun range, traveling, going to concerts and arguing over whose turn it was to cook. After his military service, Noel worked in the oil patch all over Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Northern BC, as a Nitrogen Operator. Noel was medically retired in 2025, as a result of contracting lung cancer and suffering from other cancer related difficulties. Throughout this time, Noel faced his illness with irreverent humour, incredible bravery and the squaddy mentality where you just put your head down and crack on. Wendy knew that the only thing that could ever have kept Noel away from her was death. Noel is survived by his wife, Wendy Anderson; his father, Norman and his sister, Heather. He also leaves behind three good dogs, Gunner, Potato and Storm. All three animals brought Noel so much joy. He was predeceased by his mother, Sabet Anderson. A profound and heartfelt thank you to Dr. Prince, the Palliative Care Team and the 5E nursing staff at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital. Also, many thanks to all of the people who have supported us in our cancer journey. A Celebration of Life will be held in the MEDICINE HAT LEGION ROBERTSON BRANCH #17 on Saturday, August 1, 2026, from 1:00 4:00 pm, in the canteen. The dress code will be offensive t-shirts, and hockey jerseys.
Flowers are gratefully declined. Those who wish to remember Noel with a donation may do so to the Medicine Hat S.P.C.A. (55 Southwest Drive SW, Medicine Hat, AB, T1A 8E8) or the Margery E.
